The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday castigated the Haryana government for giving a ‘clean chit’ to Robert Vadra, son-in-law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in allegedly dubious land deals.
Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar argued that ironically the Congress government in the State, which was the accused party, was acting as the lawyer as well as the judge.
Terming it as a “self-certification,” Mr. Javadekar said it was a clear sign of the Congress running away from the probe.
“We once again demand that there should be an independent probe into all the reportedly “murky” deals of Mr. Vadra and his companies and also the alleged quid pro quo between the Congress government and the real estate company.”
“The truth could emerge only through an independent probe. The Congress or Shri Vadra has not answered the BJP’s question on the source of Rs. 7.94 crore, reflected in the balance sheet of one of the Vadra-owned companies as an overdraft from Corporation Bank, particularly when the bank has denied having given any overdraft to Mr. Vadra.”
The party spokesperson said the BJP would like to know why the government did not order a probe into this even a month after the Corporation Bank’s official statement.
