Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday accused the Congress of not being committed to passing the Lokpal Bill in the winter session of Parliament.
Talking to reporters here, she said it was the responsibility of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to convince its ally, the Samajwadi Party, on the issue.
She was referring to how the Samajwadi Party opposed the Bill when it was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
“There was absolutely a directionless leadership in the country during the last ten years. There were killings along the north frontier, incursions in Arunachal Pradesh, repeated issues involving Sri Lanka…people were let down.”
On the announcement of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi snapping ties with the Congress, she said it was the prerogative of any political party to form a particular alliance.
