Sandesh , a Congress magazine, holds the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) responsible for the joint defeat of the two parties in the recent Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
There is need for a “relook” at the strategy in the southern State as the Congress must not lose its vote bank due to the “mistakes of its coalition partners,” the magazine suggests in its current issue.
Ironically, the magazine was released on a day when the DMK reviewed its relationship with the Congress and decided to maintain status quo, even though it was critical of the latter for not helping the party's high-profile members in the 2G scam.
“It is not proper to discuss these things in detail,” Congress media chairperson Janardan Dwivedi dead-panned when he was asked whether what the magazine said was the view of the party. “Read it and draw your own inferences. We don't comment on our coalition partners.”
Quite unambiguous
But the Sandesh editorial and article on the elections are quite unambiguous. “The results in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were affected by the 2G scam and these States were lost to other parties,” the editorial says. The article reads: “The Congress has to have another look at their strategy in the southern State. It must not lose its vote bank due to the mistakes of its coalition partners.”
Interestingly, it adds: “The Congress has to regain its old glory and be in a position to be in power by itself.”
