In a high-voltage drama, Congress MLAs gheraoed Governor C Vidyasagar Rao outside Maharashtra Legislature on Wednesday afternoon. The MLAs protested against the voice vote conducted on the floor of the House, which gave majority to the BJP government in the State.

Congress has alleged that the BJP-led minority government is illegitimate in nature. It has alleged that the newly elected Speaker refused to conduct ballot vote despite demands by the Congress and Shiv Sena.

The Governor was safely escorted to the House through the protesting politicians where he began delivering his speech a few seconds ago.
