“He is trying to convert it into a political football. He should be ashamed of himself,” party spokesman Manish Tewari told PTI.
Describing Mr. Chautala’s statement as “most unfortunate”, Mr. Tewari said he has chosen to react to an issue of national outrage in a most “insensitive and callous manner“.
Mr. Chautala had earlier in the day said that while he had taken action against the officer, he was promoted by other governments.
The AICC spokesman said after her father spoke about his helplessness in getting Mr. Chautala to act against Rathore despite an enquiry by the then DGP, what is more to be said about his (Chautala’s) guilt.
Mr. Tewari said her father has squarely held Mr. Chautala responsible and nothing more could be added to that.
