The Hyderabad city police received five complaints on hate speeches against different persons, including VHP leader Praveen Togadia and MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday. While in two instances, cases were registered following court directions, three more complaints were referred for legal opinion, according to police officials.
The Tappachabutra police registered a case against Dr. Togadia for his reported speech made at Chaitanyapuri locality in the city outskirts sometime ago. The complainant, Osman bin Al Hazare, alleged that the VHP leader had tried to provoke religious animosity through his comments on the Bhagya Laxmi temple. The complainant also accused MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi and another MIM activist Muneeruddin Mukhtar, of hurting religious sentiments. Elsewhere, in Saidabad station, an advocate Gulam Rabbani filed a complaint against Dr. Togadia and a case was registered. “The speech was delivered by Dr. Togadia at Vasavi colony in Chaitanyapuri on December 11, 2012,” the investigators said.
The lawyer also filed a separate complaint in Hussaini Alam station alleging that BJP State president and MLA G. Kishan Reddy, VHP leader Swamy Ram Vilas Vedanti and BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya had delivered hate speeches three years ago during the Ganesh idol immersion procession.
A private company employee, Mohammed Wajid, approached the Kalapather police two days ago charging VHP State leaders Ramaraju, Raghava Reddy and others with hurting the religious feelings of Muslims at a meeting in Adoni of Kurnool district on January 29.
MIM plans complaint
