Communist leader Malini Tulpule passes away

Noted Communist leader Malini Tulpule has died of old age ailments in a hospital here. She was 88.

She passed away last night, hospital sources said.

Malini, who became a Communist party member in 1954, was associated with various workers’ unions, including the All India Trade Union Congress AITUC.

She also set up a union of unorganised hospital employees and fought for rehabilitation of displaced population affected by construction of dams in Maharashtra.

Married to noted Communist leader late Vasantrao Tulpule, Malini had participated in the movement for the liberation of Goa and Samyukta Maharashtra movement.
