Church concerned over judicial meet on Good Friday

March 28, 2015 02:19 am | Updated 02:19 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) on Friday expressed concern over reports that the Chief Justice of India (CJI) had convened a three-day meeting of all chief justices beginning on April 3, which is Good Friday.

In a letter to CJI H.L. Dattu, the CBCI urged him to take cognisance of the “legitimate” feelings of Christians and “adopt appropriate measures to reassure us that our legitimate religious sentiments be honoured and the sacrosanct character of Good Friday and Christmas Day will be upheld.”

“Any move to minimise the importance of these dayshurts the feelings of Christians,” it added.
