Vice-President of China, Li Yuanchao, on Friday focussed on the achievements of India-China cooperation, especially in the South Asian region, to mark his visit to India.
Addressing a gathering of entrepreneurs and businessmen here, Mr. Li paid tributes to the spirit of new ventures in South Asia.
“The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Bank of China, and other financial institutions have set up branches in India one after another. China and India have proposed and promoted the development of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor,” Mr. Li said while welcoming India’s participation in Chinese projects like the Belt and Road Initiative.
Earlier, Mr. Li, during his meeting with Vice President Hamid Ansari, sealed two agreements on sharing of hydrological data of the Satluj river and on an exhibition of Indian ancient culture in China to be held next year. He hailed the dynamic leaderships of China and India and said the combined GDP of $12 trillion made China and India cooperation a necessity.
In an interesting twist, he observed that the days of “Made in China” had now been taken over by the idea of “Created in China” while highlighting the high-level economic growth in both the countries.
Response to Ansari’s visit Mr. Li’s visit is the first ever one by a Chinese Vice-President to India and is a response to the June 2014 visit to China by Vice-President Hamid Ansari. Mr. Li asked Indian and Chinese entrepreneurs to work closely and make mutual cooperation a success. India and China, he said, would have to build an “enabling environment for win-win cooperation.”
