Chidambaram pitches for son

Amid speculation on his contesting from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu, Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has told the Congress high command that he would rather the party gave the seat to his son Karti P. Chidambaram or any other young leader.

According to sources, Mr. Chidambaram thinks the current elections should be used to develop new leadership in States like Tamil Nadu, where the party’s base is weak.
