Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy alleged that Union Minister P. Chidambaram was “more guilty” than the former Communications Minister, A. Raja, in the 2G spectrum allotment scam.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he released a document dated July 4, 2008 from the Department of Economic affairs, Ministry of Finance, which, he said, would “demolish the Congress claim that Mr. Raja alone fixed the price and Mr. Chidambaram had no role.”
According to the document, “meetings took place between Finance Minister and Minister of Telecommunication on May 29, 2008, and June 12, 2008, to resolve outstanding issues relating to allocation and pricing of 2G and 2G spectrum bands.” Then “it has been agreed that the ‘base price' shall be determined by taking the entry fee of Rs. 1,650 crore (determined in 2003-04) for pan-India operation of UASL licencees as the price of spectrum for 6.2 MHz of bandwidth for GSM operators.”
“Far lower”
Hence, Dr. Swamy contended that they acted together and fixed a price which was nothing but that fixed by the National Democratic Alliance Government in 2001. Thus the final price was far lower than what it would have fetched had it been auctioned.
Dr. Swamy also released a letter from Mr. Chidambaram to Mr. Raja on April 21, 2008, suggesting that they could “meet and discuss and reach some conclusions. These conclusions could then be presented to the Hon'ble Prime Minister.”
The letter says based on Mr. Raja's “non-paper” on spectrum charges, the Finance Secretary had held discussions with the Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Based on those discussions, Mr. Chidambaram enclosed a non-paper “containing our views relating to 2G spectrum and issues relating to 3G/WiMax spectrum” and suggested that after Mr. Raja examined it they could meet and discuss the issue.
“Equity dilution”
Dr. Swamy said Mr. Chidambaram allowed some companies to opt for “equity dilution” which was not permitted for three years. This had allowed some companies to get licences through a circuitous route. “What you are not permitted to do directly, you cannot do indirectly as well,” he asserted.
Also, even without telling Mr. Raja, two “blacklisted” companies were allowed to get licences by Mr. Chidambaram, Dr. Swamy added.

SC should take suo moto action and bring PC to the court in the 2G Scam. Mr MMS is the dirty PM that this country could ever see. He has been sheilding the real culprits and only Raja is made the sacrificial goat.Needle of suspicion takes to 10th Janpath in the matter and once the entire thing is ex[posed that will bear the 'Congress' headed by the Italian Family. Dr Swamy is to be complimented for the crusade he has taken upon himself.
I don't the evidence that swamy is presently having and made known to public will be sufficient to prosecute PC. If he has some more doc. may be then it is possible. Further PC is a person who would do everything scientifically, including any favours, if he wanted to do...Friends... we are living in a country where the top three of our beloved country have no mandate of people- 1. Dr. Manmohan Singh - never fought an election. 2. Dr. Montek Singh - Student of foreign universities - hi-fi bureacrat - talking about Indian Economy and 3. PC - almost lost in the MP election in Sivaganga to Kannappan. Let him speak of his heart. Our only hope is still we have people like swamy and cho ramaswamy living with us...
I would request all to seek the truth beyond the Personalities. In India, the Judiciary system does not treat all as equal. It is also dead slow. The real culprits either escape ( or expire )from judiciary net. This is 150% true especially in the case of politicians, the rulers.This 2G scam is a blatant insult to our Political system itself. But for DR.Swamy, this case would not have even taken off. So, let us hail Dr. Swamy for his incomparable contribution in this regard.Let us not teach motives behind his action. For a long 64 years, we have been mute spectators to the foul game of politicians. Let our society, become strong and apolitical and learn patriotism..

numbed by corruption or you are a blind supporter of a party in this

I don't know about Mr.Chidambaram but Dr.Subramanian Swamy is definitely a deadly and venomous person implementing right wing Hindu ideology through his work -- his thoughts on Muslims in DNA newspaper must have opened the eyes of people by now. Mr.Chidambaram has done a tremendous job in controlling terrorism be it Islamist or Hindutva -- of course, the right wing forces can't come to terms with this. And Dr.Swamy seems to have deliberately targetted DMK in 2G scam because of ideological reasons(DMK dalit ideology is strongly against Brahmanical social order) rather than about corruption -- now that the DMK is in trouble, his next focus seems to be on Mr.Chidambaram. As The Hindu once said in its editorial, corruption and communalism could not be fought separately in India -- and that logic must be applied to Dr.Swamy as well.
Subramaniam Swamy is a congenital litigant and complainant. I think most of the people who bay for the blood of Chidambaram do not understand how government works. If a department has delegated powers, it is supposed to act and not refer the matter at every step to others including Finance. Here it has been clearly established that the government or the department under its delegated powers opted for 2001 licence fee and not auction process. The scam has occurred in allocating spectrum when manipulations were done. Chidambaram or his Ministry was involved in the actual allocation. I am sure one day Subramanaim Swamy will meet his nemesis. The fame he cannot achieve politically he is trying to get through legal contrivances. I bet he will bite the dust.
Chidambaram decided the price to be low. Did Chidambaram benefit from the low price? If not, why are we calling it a corruption? Setting a low price is a way of transferring money from govt to people - this should not be confused with personal benefit(corruption).
Dr Swamy is doing a great service to the nation by boldly bringing out the facts, exposing the culprit being shielded by the Congressmen regardless his past deeds. He has not done any crime. He is proving with documentary evidence that Chidambaram is more guiltier than Raja in 2G scam. But he is unduly protected. Somebody said India is a lawless nation is being created by Lawyers, with corrupt politicians and criminals.
The government is hell bent on defending Chidambaram because the linen is too dirty to be washed in public. Dr Subramanian Swamy is able to dig out many skeletons from the shelves and our nation's primary investigating agency is unable to do so. Are they hand in glove with the government? What is really happening is to drag the matters to many long years and make the public loose interest and than wind up. By the time lot public money would have been spent for the livelihood of few people in the name of inquiry. The stack holders are the real culprits who have used the loopholes for their gains in connivance with the people in the government. What the government should do is to suspend the earlier agreements and allow these parties to the workable new conditions and recover the earlier loss over a period of time in the interest . If it is not agreeable to them let them go to the court. Instead of plugging the leak, the government's action is a means to wastefully spend tax payers money.
I for one think that Mr Swamy is right in gong after PC. Though PC might have done nothing wrong technically, he had enough mens rea to fill several bank accounts. That Mr Swamy is so close to bringing down PC, not by hammer and tongs, but with the precision of a surgical needle, and armored with clear evidence should give other people with similar mens rea-s nightmares. From that viewpoint, I think that Dr Swamy's continued prosecution of PC is quite justified, even though PC might win at the bitter end.
Swamy is a politician and also a social activist.His credentials and agenda aside,he certainly carries out activities which in general helps to check criminal and corrupt activites of politicians.He may be attempting to black mail a person or reap vengence on someone and that
doesnt matter as long as it helps nail a culprit or cleanse a system.Afterall judiciary permits approvers of a crime in cracking the same.Lets hail this act of his for whatever its worth.
Dr.Subramanian Swamy,claims to have filed many cases and downed
many celebrities!It may be recalled that as far back as November,
2008, he had written several letters to the PM seeking his sanction
to prosecute Raja, then Telecom Minister!Has he disclosed the
"sources of his information regarding the guilt of Raja" to the
public till date?CAG"s report on the "Performance Audit of issue
oflicences and allocation of 2G spectrum was laid before the
Parliament as per Art. 151 of the Constitution on 16th November,
2010!So the aam admi has every right to ask him how could he write
to the PM two years ago? In 1999, he,aided by Jayalalithaa caused
the fall of BJP led NDA-I Govt., for want of one vote!Today, to
plaease the second person, Advani has asked NDA MPs to boycott
Chidambaram!The people are anxiously waiting for passage of vital
"second generation economic reforms bills"and politicians are
adopting "obstructionist;s tactiscs"! The people pay them thier due
wages erelong!
Dr Swamy is not the issue. The issue is, whether there has been a
wrongdoing or not, whether massive amounts of money changed hands,
whether it caused a great loss to the exchequer. Most important is
whether there is criminality involved in the act.
What is needed is a complete overhaul of the constitution, the Indian
penal code and all laws relating to corruption. We need to break the
nexus between the politicians, law enforcement officials and possibly
the judiciary. We need to rewrite laws that would make people think
many times before breaking the law.
Until this is done, we will see a repeat of such scams, time and
again.
I think what every body is forgetting is that Mr. Raja is not facing criminal proceedings for not acutioning the spectrum. He is facing trial for bending rules and accepting bribes for favoring some firms in an illegal manner. Chidambram cannot be faulted for the policy of non auction. We are all consumed by hatred for some political opponents and forget what the real issue is.
To accuse Mr:swami that he is getting even with Chidambaram is most unfair.Those who are doing this are either not well up with the facts of the case or very biased. His inference has two points to cosider.
1. Do mr Raja pocesses the acumen and the verbl skill to plan and execute the alleged scam? Does he have a motive?
2.who could help him?
It has proven beyond resonable doubt that both of these parties were in discussion about the 2G and 3G specturm and may or may not have misled the prime minister and the government of that fact.
This has put Mr:Manmohan sing and the government in a very tight spot.For this alone chidambaram should be stood down.If he comes out smelling roses after the investigaton,he should be indicted back to the ministry.
Or chidambaram must refute Mr: Swami's statements and sue him for defamation.
Regardless of what, Mr. P.Chidambaram is very good gentleman and is one of the excellent Administrator, fantastic truoble shooter, practical solution provider for the our beloved country. Not trouble maker, But, Dr. Subramaniswamy will not do good to anyone and will not allowing to do good thing by others, but always accusing to others is his full time job... if Dr. Subramaniswamy show his power to TN CM, Miss: JJ, she will cut his tail at the end. Dr. Subramaniswamy should use his intellectuality in the field of reducing the living cost and development of our Country. Anyway, no use on our suggestions. God Bless them all.
No one is naive to believe that in the 2G Scam there were only two partners from the then cabinet. When a fair and unbiassed investigation without any political intrusion is carried out, more faces will emerge and that will in no way be a shock or surprise to the nation.
It is no doubt that swamy`s main political rival is Mr chidu...because of Chidu, Swamy is not able to join congress or a ministry under UPA...Now he is collecting all if n but to arrive an logical conclusion on his own..
Dr. Swamy is to be complimented for the special efforts he is putting to track the culprits of the 2G Scam. If Chidambaram or even Manmohan Singh has done something against the interest of the country or norms of the Public domain they should be interrogated and if found guilty should be put behind bars. Chidambaram is a corrupt politican with a Harvard Mask. People in the state of Tamil Nadu know that all his corrupt practises take place through his wife and son. The Congress members are supporting him only because he will point out his fingers on the Congress President and all these men know very well that they cannot survive without the tag name Gandhi in their political life. I was in Tamil Nadu and many lands are in Raja's and Kanimozhi's Benamis name and you could also see many in Chidambraram's benami in Coorg district of Karnataka. Based on Swamys revelations, the CBI should proceed against P.C and include him as an accused in the 2G Spectrum case.
Swamy is always greatest nuisance to any ruling party of India.He defeated BJP government with one vote. Now he is giving trouble to Congress . His greatest weakness is he want some prestige post in government.BJP government did not gave him finance ministry that is why he defeated that government.Chidambararm is guilty or not that will decide by court but Swamy roaring that he is guilty and must be punish that one is his evergreen tactics
From the haste with which the PM and other Congressmen have jumped to the defence of Mr.Chidambaram against allegations supported by evidence, it is clear that they know that if the then Finance Minister goes down on the 2G scam issue, the efforts of the government and the Congress party to portray Mr.A.Raja of the DMK supported by some civil servants as the sole culprit in the scam will come to noughts. People may then conclude that there is more to it than meets the eye. The power elite has definitely started shivering in their boots.
Dear Swami, I completely support your efforts to unravel the truth and put your view in public, even before the Judiciary has given it's verdict, Common man too has the right to know what has been put in front of it's judiciary to judge. If it’s done to take a political mileage, then too you deserve that mileage, as you have put your honest effort to dig in some truth that should matter to public.
Our political system first of all should not operate on coalition government. Literates with clean background should only be allowed to contest elections. Ceiling on the years of service as elected public servant should be fixed. No family legacy to be allowed to continue in public life if proven incompetent. Enactment to make elected member visit his constituency atleast once in a month to address the public grievance. All this is possible only when there is unity among us. We are prepared to die when our neighour invade our snow-peak mountain but remain silent & ignore to protest or join hands to wipe out corruption. Seeing the head count in egypt & looking at their determination, india having over one billion population should revolt & chuck out those responsible for ruining the nation. Mr Swamy, Are you making a case against Mr. P. Chidamabram? Why go to press when you have filed an case in the court? You can as well wait for the verdict. But this is where political class always is confused and try to make capital from both ends. I hope courts will take a final view and put him behind bars but do not go out of your limits in public life.
Dr.Swamy is earnestly doing his best to fully unravel a mammoth scam. It seems and can't be neglected the scope of seting enquiry against P.Chidambaram.He has a certain role in this scam.If a person is Harvard Business School passed out then it doesn't mean that he gets the license to avoid prosecution while others charged on similar offense is serving in jail.I think Chidambaram should get his share for his role and i appeal to mass media to highlight this news and make a step for transparent and honest india and not just in role of favouritism to persons holding key positions.India has many talented and bright economist and can look and take care of economy even without chidambaram.Think if it would have been Chidambaram property to sell spectrum,could have he sold at such lower rate.Its common that a person sell his property at the market price and not of past rate and that too to potential companies whose sole aim is to earn profit.They were not social companies serving poor people whom spectrum alloted at cheaper rates and being caught now.
The law of the land does not take a recourse to such sweeping judgement of someone being guilty or more guilty than another..so on an so forth. In India a public trial through vigilantism or by the media seems to have become the norm these days. By putting this 'judgemental allegation' prominently on the front page tantamounts to aiding and abetting this unhealthy trend. India needs libel laws to tackle mavericks who do resort to this sort crass public trials.
Why is the government hell bent on defending Chidambaram when at least on paper he appears to have colluded with Raja to pull the wool over everyone's eyes?Instead of rebutting Swamy's charges and allegations with some concrete evidence or papers etc.the Congress party merely denies any wrong doing on PC's part which is a little hollow.When the Scam was busted by Swamy,the same denials and ludicrous comments were dished out by all functionaries and ministers, the most vociferous of them being Sibal who propounded some new accounting principles whereby huge losses were by sleight of hand converted to profits.I think he would have made a good advocate for Satyam's Raju.The Congress' defence of the indefensible is deplorable.
It appears that the real bigwigs behind the 2G scam will be exposed soon.
