A Jammu and Kashmir Press Association delegation has asked for strict monitoring of the ongoing relief and rescue operations in Kashmir.
Accompanied by Justice Markandey Katju, chairman of the Press Council of India, the delegation led by G.H. Kaloo met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Wednesday and expressed concerns over the distribution of relief material.
Later interacting with the media on Thursday, the delegation said the people of Kashmir have little confidence in the State government and that the ongoing relief work should be closely monitored by the Centre or an independent agency.
The delegation highlighted the problems, including shortage of food and drinking water facing the people of the State. The delegation also sought liberal compensation for the loss of property and crops.
