Following protests in the Arab nations against uploading of a video on YouTube allegedly targeting Islam and Prophet Muhammad, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology has ordered removal of all such inflammatory content from the Internet.

The move comes after the Home Ministry forwarded a J&K request to the DEIT seeking immediate ban on the alleged blasphemous content.

“We have ordered removal of all such content…all ISPs [Internet service providers] have been asked to remove the videos. The process normally takes 4-5 hours…hopefully by tonight [Thursday] all the objectionable content will be removed,” DEIT Secretary J. Satyanarayana told The Hindu.
