As opposition to the Home Ministry's move to set up a National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) grows, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Sunday said that the fight against terrorism had to be undertaken jointly and that the Centre had no desire to infringe on the rights of the States. Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on her Ministry's budget demands, she said Home Minister P. Chidambaram had been on record to say that the Centre and State should work together in the fight against terror. Reacting to a question on the resistance of several non-UPA States and the Trinamool Congress on the order issued by the Home Ministry, she said, “People of the country do not want terrorism to be politicised.”
