A senior official said on Tuesday that the Home Ministry had received the report sent by the J&K Governor to the President for imposition of Governor’s rule under Section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.

The official said the Home Ministry would prepare a proposal recommending Governor’s rule. “It will then be sent to the President of India for his assent and then Governor’s rule will be imposed in the State,” he said.

President Ram Nath Kovind is on an official tour to Europe. “Since he is travelling, the proposal will be sent to him in Surinam, his current stop, and once he gives an assent, Governor's rule will be imposed,” the official said. The Governor held consultations with major parties before sending the report.
