Three days after BJP president Amit Shah said at a rally in Kolkata that Saradha chit fund money was used to fund the Bardhaman blast accused, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh on Wednesday told the Lok Sabha that the probe so far had not revealed any transaction routed to Bangladesh for funding terror activities.

However, seeking to defuse the brewing controversy reported by the media, the BJP later clarified that the Centre had not given a clean chit in the Saradha scam to the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.

Dismissing any contradiction between the government and the party, the BJP’s national secretary and in-charge of West Bengal, Siddharth Nath Singh, said information of Saradha scam funds being used for terror activities in West Bengal has been in the public domain for a long time, including in Bangladesh newspapers.
