A Central government team visited the site of a proposed Posco India steel plant near here on Friday to ascertain whether the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, was properly implemented.
The four-member team, led by the former Environment Secretary, Meena Gupta, began the two-day visit from the Dhinkia gram panchayat in coastal Jagatsinghpur district, where the Rs.51,000-crore plant has been planned. It interacted with residents of three villages.
