June 26, 2016 03:53 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:24 pm IST - Mathura:

Celebratory firing in marriages has been banned with immediate effect in urban and rural parts of Mathura district, district police chief said on Saturday.

“Not only has it been banned but violation would invite stern action,” SSP Babloo Kumar said.

“Those who take part in celebratory firing would be booked and their arms licence cancelled. Also, the licence of marriage hall would also be cancelled in case of violation of the ban,” he said.

Station House Officers have been instructed to ensure implementation of the order, Mr. Kumar said.

Senior police officers would apprise the owners of marriage halls of the ban.

“SP (city) and SP (rural) have been asked to hold a meeting of marriage hall owners in their areas and apprise them about the order,” the SSP said.
