RSS Central Executive Committee member Ram Madhav of the RSS, urged the Chief Election Commissioner on Thursday to initiate appropriate action against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his denigrating remarks against the RSS, blaming it for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
A complaint in this regard was made to the office of the Chief Election Commissioner, New Delhi, through the Karnataka State Chief Electoral Officer, Anil Kumar Jha, here.
Mr. Gandhi made the allegation while on an election tour of Thane district in Maharashtra on Wednesday.
Mr. Madhav alleged that Mr. Gandhi also made other “false, unverified and unfounded allegations against the RSS, linking it to the BJP, a rival political party to the Indian National Congress.” Several TV channels had aired the news and the video clips were attached to the complaint, he said. Reports of the speech appearing in the print media were also being annexed to the complaint.
The people of the country had very high regard for the Mahatma. Mr. Gandhi made the statement with “ulterior political motive.” By making the offending remarks in a predominantly Muslim area of Bhiwandi, Mr. Gandhi had sent a wrong message to the Muslim community. The statement could clearly aggravate differences and create mutual hatred among the Hindus and Muslims.
Mr. Madhav is in Bangalore in connection with an Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meeting along with senior functionaries of the organisation.
