Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Monday tried to stamp down speculation about a growing discord within the party over ticket distribution.
In the wake of reports of a disagreement between senior leaders Murli Manohar Joshi and prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over who will contest from Varanasi, the party chief said Central Election decision will be final.
Talking on reporters here on Monday, Mr. Singh said there has been no disagreement over seat-sharing, and the choice of candidates from each constituency, including Varanasi will be taken by the CEC. Even as the party has been refuting reports of simmering tension between Dr. Joshi and Mr. Modi, there are reports that Lalji Tandon, the sitting MP from Lucknow has expressed unhappiness over the party's decision to field Rajanth Singh from the seat.
