The Central Bureau of Investigation informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that it would file, in a sealed cover, the latest status report on November 30, giving details of the investigation conducted so far in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Senior counsel K.K. Venugopal, appearing for the CBI, submitted before a Bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly that the agency had earlier submitted a status report in a sealed cover, but it was not opened. Now it would submit the latest report on November 30.
He said the agency could not divulge the names of the persons interrogated. He assured the court that none would be spared once their involvement was established.
On counsel Prashant Bhushan's question why public relations lobbyist Niira Radia was not questioned, Mr. Venugopal said: “We [the CBI] have got a particular method of investigation. In a case where the proceeds of the crime are to be traced, the method of investigation is different.”
He said the agency was examining the role of persons involved; other agencies were also involved in the probe.
Arguments will continue on November 30.
