CBI to file case against six MPs in LTC scam

June 02, 2014 12:11 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:32 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Thirteen more Rajya Sabha members have come under the scanner of the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly making false Leave Travel Concession (LTC) claims to pocket money from the State treasury.

The agency is all set to register cases against six MPs, while the names of the other seven will be reported to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for follow-up action.

“The parliamentarians against whom six separate cases are being registered belong to different parties, including the Telugu Desam Party, the Trinamool Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party,” said a senior CBI officer.

These six MPs allegedly furnished invalid travel papers to claim LTC reimbursements. “They made such claims multiple times for tickets worth lakhs, which amounts to a criminal offence. We had earlier collected the documents submitted by the accused MPs from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat and got them verified before reaching a conclusion that they were invalid,” said the officer. CBI sources said an order for registration of cases against the six MPs had already been issued by the competent authority.
