The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday searched the house of D.S. Moorthy (65), former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the former Union Minister of Health Anbumani Ramadoss. The search pertained to alleged irregularities in the award of recognition by the Medical Council of India to a medical college in Indore.
Sources in the agency said CBI's Anti Corruption Branch police conducted the raids early on Monday following the arrival of Mr. Moorthy from the United States. The investigating agency had locked his house a month ago.
The CBI in New Delhi had registered a case in connection with irregularities in granting MCI recognition to the Index Medical College at Indore six months ago.
"Mr. Moorthy, a former Intelligence Bureau official, settled in the U.S. after retirement. We locked his house after a search warrant was obtained. On specific information that he arrived today, the search was conducted," a CBI official said.
Refusing to divulge details of seizures made in the house in Chetpet here, the official said the agency had reliable inputs about the involvement of Mr. Moorthy in the irregularities.
