January 17, 2015 12:10 am | Updated 12:10 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Sports Integrity Unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation has recommended appropriate action against four Table Tennis players for allegedly forging age records to compete in underage tournaments.

Although the agency has not registered any case in the matter, it found that by competing in underage tournaments, the four girls managed to improve their national ranking on the basis of which they obtained scholarships. While one of them got Rs.4.92 lakh, another girl received Rs.2.5 lakh and the third was given a scholarship worth Rs.60,000.

The four, along with their parents, allegedly got their age reduced by one to three years by submitting fresh certificates.
