The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday opposed the bail plea of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda in a coal block allocation case.

Counsel for the investigating agency submitted before Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar that Koda in conspiracy with other public servant accused in the case had extended undue favour to Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd. in the allocation of a coal block.

The accused earlier appeared before the court on a summons. The court had summoned them after taking cognisance of the charge-sheet in the case.

Counsel for Mr. Koda and other accused urged the court to grant bail arguing that they had cooperated with the agency during the probe.
