The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Saturday dismissed reports of summoning the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chavan, for questioning in the Adarsh housing society scam investigation as “speculative.”

“No such action has yet been initiated by us till now. We are still investigating the matter and gathering evidence. We are questioning the three accused M. M. Wanchoo, Kanhaiyalal Gidwani and R.C. Thakur at present,” a senior CBI officer told The Hindu .

He rubbished the media reports that the CBI was soon to summon Mr. Chavan for investigation. “The media had been speculating since a month before we filed the First Information Report in the matter. This too is merely media speculation. We can't tell now whether we are going to summon someone, or when we will summon them,” he said. The CBI has been questioning the three accused for the past three days. CBI officials also denied finding any fresh irregularities in the Adarsh housing society case.
