The lie-detector test on the parents of the teenaged girls, who were allegedly gang-raped and murdered at Badaun in Uttar Pradesh in May, began here on Monday.
“We have obtained three days’ time from a UP court for the polygraph tests, after requisite consent from the persons concerned. Fathers of both the victims, one of their uncles and prime eyewitness Baburam would be put through the test,” said a Central Bureau of Investigation official.
>The agency is presently probing all possible angle s, including “honour killing”, based on the preliminary findings.
“Several contradictions in the statements of the victim’s parents and the villagers regarding the incident have led us to probe other possibilities. We have already examined the witnesses in the case. The polygraph tests on the five accused persons, constables Chhatrapal and Sarvesh Yadav besides three brothers Urvesh, Pappu and Avadhesh Yadav, have also been conducted. However, the results are still awaited,” said an official.
The bodies of the two girls were found hanging from a tree in the Badaun village a day after they went missing on May 27. Their families have alleged that the victims were gang-raped and murdered.
