CBI arrests two Rural Development Ministry officials

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested two Rural Development Ministry officials for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.45,000 from a businessman who rented out cars to the Ministry.

“Deputy Secretary Satish Kalhotra and Section Officer Pradhan Singh are posted with the Rural Development Ministry. We received a complaint alleging that the two were demanding Rs. 68,000 for clearing the bills of a businessman who supplied cars to the Ministry on rent,” said a CBI official.

They have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
