The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested Commonwealth Games Organising Committee official K.U.K. Reddy and an overlays supplier Praveen Bakshi in the CWG overlays scam.

The arrests came within three days of the raids on the premises of A.K. Saxena, Nikesh Jain, R.P. Gupta, K.U.K. Reddy and Sujith Lal. The CBI had also conducted raids on the premises of Mr. Bakshi, official sources said here. The agency swung into action after filing a First Information Report against these officials following allegations of corruption. Overlays works included the supply of tents, portable toilets and air conditioners. The charges also included irregularities in bids for LED boards, athletic equipment and furniture.

The scam is estimated to be over Rs. 600 crore. The contracts are also under the scanner of the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate.
