The fate of as many as 2.14 lakh Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) aspirants will be made known on January 9 when the IIMs, along with test provider Prometric, announce the results for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012.

According to a release, candidates should log on to IIMs’ portal via the CAT website from January 9 for the results. Candidates will be required to enter their CAT registration number and email address in order to access the site. They have also been advised to retain a printed copy of their results. CAT 2012 results can be accessed until December 31, 2013.

CAT 2012 convener S.S.S. Kumar urged candidates to avoid rushing on the first day. “Although we have taken added precautions, we anticipate a slightly heavier traffic on the first day and candidates are advised to be patient. They may try again later if they find the site to be slow,” he said in a release.

CAT 2012, which was coordinated by IIM, Kozhikode, was conducted in 61 centres across 36 cities from October 11 to November 6, 2012. This year’s (2012) CAT had 9,000 more registrations compared to last year, a four per cent increase.

The percentage of female candidates also went up by one per cent to 28 per cent. New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune were the cities in which the highest number of candidates took the test.
