Cardiologist injured in militant attack, 2 PSOs killed

Eminent cardiologist and former Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science [SKIMS] Soura Dr Sheikh Jalal-ud-din sustained injuries in a militant attack on him in his residential township of Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Thursday. Two of his Personal Security Officers died in the attack.

DIG South Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed the death of two PSOs of Dr. Jalal in the militant attack on him at 4.05 p.m. He told The Hindu that Dr Jalal was being evacuated to a hospital.

Dr. Jalal is a Police protected person. He is not associated with any political outfit, though his wife happens to be the daughter of a former Congress leader and Minister late Ghulam Mohammad Mir Rajpuri.
