Refusing to pinpoint Iran for the Israeli car bomb blast here, India on Wednesday said it has no evidence about any individual, entity, organisation and country involved in the attack which left an Israeli diplomat critically injured.
“As of today, we have no evidence to find any individual, entity, organisation and country being involved in this incident (car blast),” official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Syed Akbaruddin said.
He was asked whether there was any information with the government to show Iran’s involvement in the blast, as was being claimed by Israel, and if that would change the dynamics of India-Iran ties.
Meanwhile, official sources also refused to speculate the basis of the Israeli allegation that Tehran was responsible for the terror blast.
Emphasising that India’s ties with Iran whether on energy front or overall trade sector were driven by its own national interest, the sources said “certain objective realities in our economic situation will always be taken into account and there are some international measures which will also have impact on the country“.
However, the sources were also quick to point out that there were various options available with India to carry on with its oil import from Iran apart from engaging with other countries for the same.
Notwithstanding a lot of pressure on it to restrict its engagement with Iran from various countries, including the US and Israel, New Delhi has been maintaining that its relationship with Tehran will be driven by its national interest.

I'm glad to see that the Indian government is not caving into any
external pressures. Maintaining ties with Iran is so important for India
in geopolitical sense and especially the rebuilding scenario of
Afganisthan. It's great to see how India maintains ties with Israel,
Iran and at the same time identifies Palestine as a special state
pleasing all three powers in the middle east & west Asia.
It was high-time India made use of its soft power.
The home minister could have atleast sounded a warning saying that if any foreign powers were found to have been involved, there would be serious consequences. Now, in the present scenario, Iran needs us more than we need them. In other cases we were very prompt in putting the blame on Indian or Pakistan based terror outfits but now why do we shy away. Iran is a terrorist state and they have been exporting terror to all parts of the world since 70's. This is not just incredible but inefficient, indifferent and ignominious India.
Israel and US, it seems, are hell bent on making a war pit for Iran. First US did a provocative action of war sending fleet to Suez Cannal. When no proof or investigations, the hands are up indicting Iran. Why could not be it act of Israel/US so so as to launch a war? To me it looks so, like a match fixing. It defies the logic of Iran doing this. Indian Goverment did one good act (Forced due to US/Israel diplomatic pressure?) of keeping distance - even in the investigation, so that Truth will not be out.
I am happy India is not jumping into the opportunity to yet again incline to USA - israel terrorism. what is with the governements and media to be so biased to US might , just cause they have nuclear arms and are superior in hi tech weapons they are forcing other countries from their democracy to develop the technologies they need ( be it nuclear weapons)!! who has the TRACK record of irresposible use of nuclear weapons in history ! and who the heck is governing other governements not to build the very same !this is rubish ! iran is as good a country as india is , except they have the will to develop their own technology in every field unlike india who wants to either buy outdated russian technology for cheap and claim break through research OR spend 10 times the value to buy it from US/ISRAEL,also give 1-2 defence deals to some nonosense ITALIAN). anwyays i really appreciate IRAN for their attempt to develop technology and envision self sufficiency inspite of problematic rogue states.
Just because Israel points its fingers towards Iran doesn't imply that
they are involved in it.It can a mere political accusation. It
definitely goes against common sense to conclude that Iran is involved
in this attack. India is currently the largest buyer of Iranian oil
and I don't see any point why Tehran should involve in such an act to
provoke a friend amidst the International hostilities. I would rather
see this as a pressure tactics by the influential West and Israel, to
prevent India from making any moves in favour of Iran-just as they did
in case of Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
There is nothing wrong with keeping national interest in mind. As long as: (1) Iran is a credible trade partner, & (2) there is no credible evidence that Iranian Govt authorised the Delhi car bombing, it must be engaged diplomatically. War mongering, though very convenient, is not going to take us anywhere. Unfortunately, that is one thing Israel has been doing constantly ever since their origin. They are always at loggerheads with someone or the other. We do not have to toe that line, but at the same time, the onus is on us to get to the root of this incident, more so than the Israelis. Despite the constant failures of India in preventing terror strikes in the country, the diplomatic and strategic stand taken by our Govt is so far in the right direction. This is the perfect setting for conspiracy theorists to have a ball, but, I think it would be advisable not to pay heed to all that.
India, you should have guts to have an opinion.U.S. is also dependent on certain things from certain countries but when it comes to intervene in a matter it never hesitate. We should be like the U.S.
I agree with Gautham that media reaction has been frenzied, frenetic and uninformative. Vipul Dave criticises India for - what exactly? - for crafting alliances grounded on national strategic interests? It is in Netanyu's interests to undermine Iran's ties with countries that frown on sanctions - he is more interested in undermining Obama's reelection prospects for personal political gain by keeping the Iran issue on the boil. Besides, there not a skerrick evidence that Iran is anywhere near developing nuclear warheads or the capability to launch any.
Bangkok police have confirmed that the explosion device used in Delhi ( magnet device) used was the same as that in Delhi and Georgia. They have already arrested the suspects who are Iranians. Why then India is still saying we can't pinpoint who did this? This news item was planted to mislead the Indian public. Expected much better reporting standards from the Hindu. Please do not indulge in biased reporting.
There are loose cannons belonging to various countries and factions all over the world, including Israel and Iran. Pinning the nationality of the perpetrators and thereby accusing the Govt of those countries as responsible for those acts has been the paradox in all cases of terrorism. In Kargil war also there were Pakistani regulars and "irregulars" but what was the use in finding that out ?. Finally it is the common man who suffers as a result of globalisation and global terror. What is important is India should try to create a society that is totally self sustaining. That will only finally create a peaceful India.
Israel is so advanced in technology- it is time they fix up a video camera in their cars enclosed in a black-box like device. Indian police ,as we know, cannot offer a solution to any crime problem- they are part of the problem. Further it is impossible for anyone to monitor events happening in a traffic jam as to whether some one has tampered with /planted a bomb in the car they are in. Keeping cool and driving in Indian cities by itself is a nightmare.
Why would Iran bomb an Israeli embassy in India on the eve of a long-term trade agreement whihc is in its own interest ? Why would Iran jeopardize relationship with India, one of its few trade partners and the only one willing to not bow down to ridiculous western iperilaist diktats ? This bombing can only have been conducted by people with a vested interest in seeing India-Iran ties fail.
It is coming to light that this series of blast in georgia, india and thailand is well orchestrated by some one who wants to turn these countries(and international community) against Iran. Any one in keeping track of world events in recent times would be able to guess what are those countries and their motives. Also interesting fact is that the same kind of explosive devices were used in the blasts in Iran that killed one of their top scientists recently based on the news reports.
Of course India's weakness in security infrastructure and capabilities made it one of those scape goats for those countries to send the message to the international community.
For the first time, I'm proud of the recent decisions taken by the Indian government. Standoff or not talking to countries is not an answer to these situation. Iran has been our friend for a long time. Indian government doesn't have to brown nose western powers by alienating our friends around the world. For example, US calls India ts friend while providing a lot of monetary assistance to Pakistan. Why should we be pressured by other countries about who should be our friends/trade partners, when we don't/can't reciprocate in the same manner? India should assess the situation strictly on her own terms and who her friends are. It should not based on external pressure.
Why should India make its ties with Iran vulnerable to propaganda from other countries? How does an Israeli official know who did it even when Indian authorities have not unearthed even one clue yet? When has India been threatened by Iran or anything Iranian? It is time to calm down the hysteria caused by the West and now being supported by Israel. We do not have any knowledge to draw damning conclusions about anyone yet, and we have no business thinking of jeopardizing our ties with anyone by being practical.
I would be very happy if India doesn't fall for the hysteria and continues to do business with Iran. Maybe this is an Israeli plot to disturb India's ties with Iran? How about that? Anything is possible, right? Let's stay on high moral ground and foster peace and prosperity and friendship all over the world, without having to take sides in a conflict essentially driven by the elections in the USA!
It defies common sense that Iran would carry this out on Indian soil, or may be that could be just an argument for game theorists to say that's precisely why Iran would chose Indian soil.
The larger theories apart, the simple expectation is that our security agencies will not probe this like they probed fodder scam or some other regular desi scam.
Larger stakes are involved and our reputation as a country capable of unbiased investigation is at stake, that is, if at all we can do that.
But looking at the news coming in the media, it appears, that from a beat constable to bada neta, everyone is indulging in whodunnit speculation rather than swift and scientific investigation.
Typical Indian policy. Possible Iranian terror attack using Indian territory and the weak Indian foreign policy is to do nothing. All fingers point to Iran after the incidents in Georgia and Thailand, but India is living up to its reputation. India is seen as a soft target, only interested in Economic growth despite millions of starving people on its soil.
