Cabinet approves reshuffle of 16 Joint Secretary-level officers

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has replaced two Joint Secretary-level officers in the Ministry of Finance, as part of a decision to reshuffle sixteen senior bureaucrats from the Ministries of Home, Commerce and Defence, among others.

Suchindra Mishra, a 1992 batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance for a period of five years from June 9, 2016 onwards. Madnesh Kumar Mishra, a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service has also been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services.

Suchindra Mishra will be replacing Rajesh Aggarwal, a 1989 batch IAS officer of the Maharasthra cadre, who has been given a lateral shift as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Madnesh Kumar Mishra will replace Anna Roy, a 1992 batch officer of the Indian Engineering Service, who will take over as Adviser, Knowledge & Innovation Hub, NITI Aayog on a lateral shift basis.

Rajiv Arora, a 1987 batch IAS officer from the Haryana cadre, currently Joint Secretary, NATGRID under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment on a lateral shift basis, replacing G. Venugopal Reddy who has been prematurely repatriated to his cadre.

Sudhir K. Saxena, a 1987 batch IPS officer from Madhya Pradesh cadre has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home affairs.

R.K. Mitra has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home affairs up to his superannuation on March 31, 2018.

Sanjay Awasthi, a 1989 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service, has been appointed as Member Secretary, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The appointments committee appointed Ashok, currently Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, as Joint Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), Ministry of Tribal Affairs on a lateral shift basis.

Anju Nigam, a 1988 batch officer of the Indian Postal Service, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Arun Baroka, a 1990 batch officer of the lAS, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, replacing Saraswati Prasad, a 1985 batch IAS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

Kalpana Awasthi, an Uttar Pradesh cadre officer from the 1990 batch of the IAS, currently Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has been appointed as Director General, National Productivity Council (NPC) under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry by downgrading the post from Additional Secretary to Joint Secretary for two years.

Jayant Sinha, a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, on the completion of his tenure in the Seventh Central Pay Commission.

Meenakshi Sharma, a 1988 batch officer of the IA&AS, has been appointed as Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, will replace Usha Sharma.

Sanjeeb Kumar Patjoshi, a 1991 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, replacing Iqbal Singh Chahal, a 1989 batch IAS officer from Maharashtra cadre.
