Byelections held in 18 Assembly constituencies in four States on Thursday were peaceful, with Bahoriband, Vijayraghogarh and Agar of Madhya Pradesh recording the highest turnout of 70 per cent.
The 10 Bihar constituencies recorded a turnout of over 42 per cent by 4 p.m. The three constituencies in Karnataka recorded 30 per cent till afternoon. In Punjab, Patiala saw a 62 per cent turnout with Congress candidate Perneet Kaur, wife of former Chief Minister Amrinder Singh, pitted against Bhagwan Das of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Harjeet Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party. Talwandi Sabo in the State recorded a 70 per cent turnout.
In Shikaripura in Karnataka, B.Y. Raghavendra, BJP candidate and son of former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, is contesting against Shanthaveerappa Gowda of the Congress.
