Shiv Prasad Yadav would have become fourth sitting MLA to leave Mayawati fold
A day after announcing his “retirement” from active politics, Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Bhartana in Etawah district Shiv Prasad Yadav made a volte face and on Sunday denied that he had decided to call it quits. Three sitting MLAs already having left the party and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati determined to keep her flock together, Mr. Yadav is understood to have been talked out of his retirement plans by the BSP leadership.
The MLA had communicated his decision to “retire”, citing personal reasons, through a letter sent on Saturday to party State unit president Swamy Prasad Maurya.
The party, in a press release issued on Sunday, said that the MLA had decided not to retire from politics and would continue to serve the interests of the party under the “able” leadership of Ms. Mayawati.
