Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal N.A.K. Browne on Thursday recorded the last sortie in the Air Chief’s log book when he flew a Su-30 from the Pune airbase.

The IAF Chief flew with his son, Squadron Leader Omar Browne, also a Su-30 pilot posted to 20 Squadron.

Interestingly, he commanded the airbase as Air Officer Commanding from 2000 to 2003.

It was under his command that the station inducted Su-30MKIs in September 2001.

Air Chief Marshal Browne, who retires on December 31, is on a two-day visit to Pune to review the 125th passing out parade at the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla.

During his visit to the airbase, he inspected the key installations and interacted with the station personnel, IAF officials said.
