The suspected honour killing case in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh has not made much progress with the police yet to find the girl, whose lover was allegedly killed by her family members. The investigating teams suspect that the girl might also have been killed. The girl's brother, a schoolboy, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder.

The young lovers wanted to marry but this was reportedly resented by the girl's family members as the boy was from a different caste.

The badly mutilated body of the boy, a BBA student, was recovered from a field in Kukra village under the Nai Mandi police station limits of the district on Friday. According to police, he was killed on April 29 and his body buried in the farm to evade detection. Reports reaching the office of the Director-General of Police indicated that three or four persons were involved in the killing.

The girl's brother, reportedly confessed to killing the boy, as his affair with his sister compromised their family honour.

Police investigation revealed that the couple reportedly left home planning to marry but returned on April 19 following the reported assurance by the girl's family members that they would arrange for their marriage.

But that was not to be. The girl was taken out of school and packed off to Baraut, police said.

Police said the boy's body was found hacked into seven pieces with both legs completely chopped off.
