British teenager's mother arrives in Goa

July 30, 2010 01:39 am | Updated 01:39 am IST - PANAJI:

The mother of a British teenager, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on north Goa's Anjuna beach two years ago, arrived here on Thursday.

She arrived from Britain to depose before the Goa Children's Court on Friday in the case of unnatural death of her daughter.

The minor's semi-nude and bruised body was found on the beach on February 18, 2008.

Two locals are facing the trial in the case.

A police officer and a forensic expert at the Goa Medical College and Hospital were suspended for lapses in the case. The suspensions were later withdrawn.

Goa police sources said the victim's mother has been provided security during her stay here, as she has expressed fear for her life.

The mother has consistently alleged that a drug mafia, hand-in-glove with powerful local politicians, was responsible for her daughter's death.
