BPCL gives Sreesanth the boot

Cricketer S. Sreesanth, who has been arrested on spot-fixing charges, received another jolt on Tuesday — his employer, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has suspended him.

Sources in BPCL said the corporate office in Mumbai issued the suspension order with immediate effect. The company has provisions to suspend its employees who were charged with criminal cases, they added said.

Sreesanth was given a job in BPCL under the sports quota in 2006, a year after he made his debut for India. He was serving as Assistant Manager (Sports) at its Irumpanam office.
