In a horrific incident of child abuse, a 14-year-old boy in Bihar’s Nalanda district suffered injuries after he was injected with acid.

The boy worked in a scrap shop run by owner Suraj Kumar. A few days ago, Kumar accused him of stealing from the shop. Consequently, he injected spirit and petrol into the boy’s anus using a syringe, the Sohsarai police station told The Hindu.

The boy was hospitalised and an FIR was lodged based on his complaint on Friday.

Kumar has been arrested. He has been accused under the sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 347 (wrongful confinement to extort property), 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code.

“The victim had swelling and burn injuries in his perineal region, buttocks and legs. According to his statement he was injected with acid. He was provided first aid and will be referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital. As of now his condition is not alarming,” Nalanda civil surgeon Dr. Jawahar Khan told The Hindu .
