Several Bollywood personalities came forward on Sunday in support of Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy, who was arrested on Friday for failing to appear before the Supreme Court in a fraud case.

Among those present at the press conference were filmmaker and producer Ramesh Sippy, actors Fardeen Khan and Johny Lever, singers Nitin Mukesh, Sadhana Sargam, Sapna Mukharji and Rahul Vaidya. “He has helped thousands of people in the film industry. He is a very nice man but nobody is talking about it,” Mr. Sippy said.

Fardeen Khan said he had come forward to save Mr. Roy from character assault. “At such times, the person goes through character assassination. We are here to defend him and are asking that be given a chance to defend himself.”

None of them agreed to answer questions on how they could have benefited from Mr. Roy’s company.

It is quite sarcastic that the film artistes who play the common
people's saviour's role are standing by the side of
Sahara Chief Subrata Roy.The reason of his arrest is known to all. Is
it the original face of them ? They are just saleable.

This is ridiculous. What interests them so much? Why don't they defend
innocent farmers who get jailed failing to repay bank loans?

"He's a very nice man" and so he should be allowed to walk free. Even
some drug lords are "very nice" and give sweets to kids. Come on, these
insignificant characters from Bollywood need to get a grip on their
senses and understand what is going on.

Wonder why the true patriot is not respecting the highest court of the
land ? How did he manage to part ways with 20000 crore without having
any bank transactions ? Can he at least publish the balance sheet of his
companies ?

To all those Bollywood personalities: Please don't pretend he was not given an opportunity. He was given multiple opportunity and he was behaving like a rebel child. No body should dare the supreme court order. If he disrespects the order, he should be behind the bar, no matter who that person is.

f he is honest, it should be easy to prove. Why hide? and drag the case for long.

Each and everyone who defies court is a criminal and shall be prosecuted. he thinks he has money so this judiciary system won't do anything to him. When SEBI officials interrogated him, he told media that the officials got afraid after hearing the sum of the money he has. I think bollywood celebs are supporting him because his company produced and sponsored many award shows, films and channels.
