A bomb ripped through an army barracks on Wednesday in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir region, killing at least three soldiers, media reports said.

Eleven troops were injured in the explosion, which took place in the T’rar Khul area of the Sadhnoti district, the Aaj television news channel said.

It was not immediately clear whether the blast was caused by a bomb planted in the barracks or a suicide attacker.

Aaj quoted hospital authorities as saying four of the injured security personnel were in critical condition, suggesting the death toll could rise.

The bombing came as Pakistan reels from a wave of militant attacks carried out since October after nearly 30,000 troops launched an offensive against the Taliban in their stronghold of South Waziristan near the Afghan border.

Pakistan and India have fought two wars over Kashmir. They control parts of the Himalayan territory, but both countries claim the region in its entirety.
