Black money worth over Rs. 2.50 crore is claimed to have been detected by the income tax sleuths from only three wholesale traders of onion and garlic in two centres in Gujarat during the massive raids carried out in different parts of the State on Friday.

According to an official spokesman, unaccounted money of Rs. 1.26 crore was detected from two traders in Vadodara district, while more than Rs. 1.30 crore was found from a trader in Surat. Checking of stocks and accounts was claimed to be continuing in many other centres.

Meanwhile, in protest against the raids, the wholesale and retail traders in Bhavnagar, Rajkot and some other centres went on strike on Saturday .
