The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) alliance, which won a comfortable majority of 24 seats in the 40-member Assembly, will call on the Governor on Wednesday to stake its claim to form the government.

Two Independent MLAs have also extended support to the alliance taking the tally to 26.

Addressing presspersons at the BJP headquarters here on Tuesday evening soon after all the election results were declared, a beaming Manohar Parrikar, senior BJP leader and party's Chief Ministerial candidate, said leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Venkaiah Naidu would arrive in Goa on Wednesday to oversee a meeting of the legislative party meeting.

Mr. Parrikar would be formally elected the leader of the BJP legislative party and later a joint meeting of the legislators of the alliance would elect him as their leader.
