‘BJP will go all out against corruption'

December 20, 2010 01:16 am | Updated November 17, 2021 05:29 am IST - CHENNAI:

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani on Sunday expressed his party's determination to pursue its campaign against corruption “vigorously.”

He was speaking after releasing a book, Shah Commission Report: lost, and regained , authored by veteran parliamentarian Era. Sezhiyan, at a function organised here by the Rajaji Centre for Public Affairs.

In the past few months, Mr. Advani said, several constitutional institutions and the media were highlighting “one single issue” — corruption. The Supreme Court, the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India, Parliament and the Fourth Estate were focussing on issues related to the 2G spectrum allocation scam, the Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing Society.

“Corruption has become a serious malady, and it should be confronted by all right-thinking people.”

The BJP was spearheading a campaign against this malady and it “would pursue this vigorously,” the former Home Minister said.

In recent times, Parliament focussed its attention on two important issues — inflation and corruption, and both should be handled properly. “Unless the whole political system combats it [corruption] efficiently, there can be no peace in the country.”
