BJP wants flats given to war heroes' wives

November 03, 2010 12:23 am | Updated 12:23 am IST - Mumbai:

The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society be regularised and flats handed over to the wives of Kargil war heroes. “Even if it has violated CRZ rules, it should be regularised,” BJP's Mumbai president Raj Purohit said at a dharna against the Society here on Tuesday.

He also demanded an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge in the matter. “The Governor should dismiss this corrupt government. Only the Chief Minister's resignation won't suffice.” Mr. Purohit said that criminal cases should be registered against the stakeholders in the Society. “Why are there no arrests being made? Arrest Kanhaiyalal Gidwani and other Congress leaders who own flats in the Society.” He said politicians involved in the scam should resign from Parliament.

The BJP workers tried to reach the top floor of the 31-storeyed building, but could reach only the parking lot on the first floor. They waved banners condemning the corruption and demanding Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's resignation.
