BJP should not ignore senior leaders: Shatrughan

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shatrughan Sinha stirred the pot once again on Tuesday by backing L. K. Advani and saying that the party should not ignore its senior leaders.

The actor-tuned-politician showed signs of being disgruntled over being left out of the BJP committees.

“While the process of declaring a prime ministerial candidate is underway, but before appointing anyone for the post, the party has to take everyone on board”, Mr. Sinha said.

“L. K. Advani is the most experienced and mature statesman the party has today. His contribution to the party in terms of helping it grow from two to 200 seats, has been the highest. There are many other senior and able leaders — like Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Yashwant Sinha and Murli Manohar Joshi. The BJP cannot move forward by sidelining these leaders”, he said.

If the Parliamentary Board decides its prime ministerial candidate, it would add to the stature of the appointee.

Maintaining that Narendra Modi was a popular leader, Mr. Sinha said there was no match for Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
