Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari has appointed a three-member committee to visit Manipur on May 13 for a spot assessment of the situation there.
Party spokespersons Prakash Javadekar and Tarun Vijay, and Vijay Chakravarty, MP, will meet civil society members, NGO activists, party workers and government and police officials. They will assess the situation caused by an economic blockade of Manipur imposed by some Naga groups and the developments arising from permission granted by the government to Naga leader T. Muivah to visit his home village in the State, and “misuse” of security forces for fake encounters.
The delegation will report back to Mr. Gadkari.
