Manipur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday joined hands with the main regional political party Manipur People’s Party (MPP) to fight the forthcoming assembly polls on January 28.

A spokesman of the MPP said his party joined hands with the MPP to defeat the Congress-led government.

BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar and north-east election in-charge Chanderasekhar Rao, who are camping in the state, said it was now time to bring down the “corrupt” government of Congress-led secular progressive front ministry in the state.

“The BJP Manipur unit and MPP desired to work together and fight the Congress government to bring a government which would devote to the development, welfare and communal integrity of the state,” said Mr. Javadekar
