Journalist-turned-polician and BJP MP Pratap Simha has triggered a social media storm after posting a photograph on Twitter, comparing Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of a Kargil war martyr and a Delhi University student who opposed the ABVP, with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Here’s Mr. Simha’s post:

Ms. Kaur had recently drawn the media attention after her campaign against the ABVP, in connection with the violence and protests that broke out at Ramjas college in New Delhi.

The MP on Monday took to Twitter to clarify his stand. “Dear Media, I have simply reposted the FB post of Shankanad and I stand by it. My constituency is facing drought, show us d way2 get #Azadi from it (sic)”, he tweeted in response to the raging exchanges on Twitter.
